Enables DNA-binding transcription activator activity, RNA polymerase II-specific and DNA-binding transcription repressor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific. Involved in negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II; positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II; and proacrosomal vesicle fusion. Located in chromocenter and nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including brain; genitourinary system; gut; heart; and lung. Orthologous to human SOX30 (SRY-box transcription factor 30).
