Involved in diacylglycerol biosynthetic process; phosphatidylcholine catabolic process; and phosphatidylethanolamine catabolic process. Acts upstream of or within ceramide metabolic process. Located in extracellular space and lysosome. Is expressed in several structures, including adrenal gland; central nervous system; genitourinary system; respiratory system; and sensory organ.
