Involved in isoprenoid metabolic process; regulation of mitochondrial membrane potential; and regulation of reactive oxygen species metabolic process. Acts upstream of or within retinal metabolic process and xanthophyll metabolic process. Located in mitochondrion. Is expressed in brain; embryo; liver; placenta; and yolk sac.
