Enables cysteine-type peptidase activity; endopeptidase activity; and protease binding activity. Involved in several processes, including cellular response to manganese ion; positive regulation of striated muscle cell apoptotic process; and protein autoprocessing. Located in cytosol and nucleus. Used to study sciatic neuropathy. Biomarker of several diseases, including diabetes mellitus (multiple); heart disease (multiple); neurodegenerative disease (multiple); post-traumatic stress disorder; and ureteral obstruction.
