Enables DNA-binding transcription activator activity, RNA polymerase II-specific; R-SMAD binding activity; and transcription cis-regulatory region binding activity. Involved in several processes, including aorta morphogenesis; heart morphogenesis; and regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including axial mesoderm development; determination of left/right symmetry; and embryonic heart tube anterior/posterior pattern specification. Located in nucleus. Part of activin responsive factor complex. Is expressed in several structures, including early conceptus; lung; notochord; ovary; and ureter.
