Enables RNA polymerase II cis-regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding activity and chromatin binding activity. Involved in positive regulation of dendrite morphogenesis. Acts upstream of or within animal organ development and negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Located in cytoplasm; neuron projection; and nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; genitourinary system; nervous system; respiratory system; and sensory organ. Orthologous to human CUX1 (cut like homeobox 1).
