Enables DNA-binding transcription factor activity; chromatin binding activity; and sequence-specific DNA binding activity. Acts upstream of or within cartilage condensation; myotube differentiation; and regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Part of transcription regulator complex. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; limb; sensory organ; and skin. Orthologous to human BARX2 (BARX homeobox 2).
