Located in apical plasma membrane; basolateral plasma membrane; and nuclear envelope. Is integral component of plasma membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including early conceptus; heart; liver; metanephros; and thymus primordium. Used to study abdominal obesity-metabolic syndrome and hyperuricemia.
