Acts upstream of or within several processes, including G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway; chemical synaptic transmission; and positive regulation of cell communication. Located in plasma membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including brain; genitourinary system; hemolymphoid system gland; intestine; and liver and biliary system. Used to study myopia and primary pulmonary hypertension. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in asthma. Orthologous to human ADORA2A (adenosine A2a receptor).
