Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, also known as drug withdrawal syndrome in newborn, is related to polysubstance abuse and postpartum depression. An important gene associated with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome is OPRM1 (Opioid Receptor Mu 1), and among its related pathways/superpathways are GPCR downstream signalling and Class A/1 (Rhodopsin-like receptors). The drugs Methadone and Benzocaine have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include brain and liver.
