Iron Overload (IO)

Iron Overload, also known as io, is related to iron overload in africa and congenital dyserythropoietic anemia. An important gene associated with Iron Overload is BMP6 (Bone Morphogenetic Protein 6), and among its related pathways/superpathways are Transport of inorganic cations/anions and amino acids/oligopeptides and Insulin receptor recycling. The drugs Deferoxamine and Deferiprone have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include pancreas and liver, and related phenotypes are increased circulating ferritin concentration and elevated circulating hepcidin concentration
