Background Diabetic Retinopathy, also known as non proliferative diabetic retinopathy, is related to microvascular complications of diabetes 1 and severe nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy. An important gene associated with Background Diabetic Retinopathy is MIR126 (MicroRNA 126), and among its related pathways/superpathways are TGF-Beta Pathway and Akt Signaling.
